Memberships
- How do I become a member?
- Visit our online store to purchase a membership. Memberships are available for individuals and for groups, and you can choose from online or offline payment methods.
- Your new membership will become valid as soon as payment is confirmed and the order is completed.
- How do I renew my membership?
- First, login to your accout. (You can still log in even if your old membership has expired.)
- Optionally, visit My Profile > My VDL Membership to check the type and expiry date of your most recent membership.
- Then, visit our online store to select and purchase a new membership. (If your membership is due for renewal, My VDL Membership will display a warning and a link to the store.)
- Your new membership will become valid as soon as payment is confirmed and the order is completed.
- When does my membership expire? Most memberships now expire on 31 December and pro-rata pricing is applied to memberships purchased throughout the year. However, during the transition period, some memberships will expire at other times. To check your expiry date:
- First, login to your account. After logging in, you’ll be on the My Profile page.
- Choose the My VDL Membership link in the left side menu to view your membership details.
- What type of membership do I have? To check your membership type, login to your account and visit the My VDL Membership page as described above.
- When can I purchase a membership for the coming year? Memberships for the coming year are available from early December.
- What happens when my membership expires? You will receive an email notification when your membership is close to expiry, and another notification when it expires. After your membership expires, you still have limited account access, allowing you to login and update basic information such as your contact details. However, you will lose access to all members-only content such as Theatrecraft and play reviews, the Member Directory, and self-service management of Plays, Auditions, One Act Play Festivals, Awards Entries and Review Requests.
Logging in and Passwords
- How do I log in? Login from Member Portal > My Profile. If you are using a smartphone or other small device, you will also find a direct link in the navigation menu, and if you a using a larger device, you can use the person icon in the top right corner of the site header.
- How do I reset my password? If you don’t know your old password, see “Help, I’ve forgotten my login details” below. If you do know your old password, follow these steps:
- First, login to your account. After logging in, you’ll be on the My Profile page.
- Click the My Account Details link in the left side menu.
- Scroll down to find the Password Change form near the bottom of the screen.
- Fill in the form with your old and new passwords.
- Click the Save Changes button.
- Help, I’ve forgotten my login details!
- If you know either your username or your account email address, you can gain access to your account by resetting your password:
- Go to My Profile.
- Click the Lost Password link at the bottom of the login form.
- Enter either your username or email address, and submit the form.
- You will receive an email containing a password reset link. Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.
- After resetting your password, you can return to My Profile and log in.
- If you don’t know your username or account email address, please Contact the VDL: An administrator will need to retrieve your details.

Troubleshooting
- Why don’t I have access to [page or feature]?
- Are you logged in? Visit My Profile to check.
- Do you have a current membership? Visit My Profile > My VDL Membership to check.
- Does your membership type include access to this page or feature? Individual memberships include access to Theatrecraft, play reviews and the Member Directory. Group memberships also cover self-service management of Plays, Auditions, One Act Play Festivals, and local (Victorian) groups have access to Awards Entries and Review Requests.
Account Management
- How do I update my contact details?
- First, login to your account in Member Portal > My Profile. After logging in, you’ll be on the My Profile page.
- Choose the appropriate link from the left side menu:
- My Addresses for addresses and phone numbers, or
- My Account Details for all other details
- After making the required changes, click the Save Changes button.
- How do I check my membership type or expiry date?
- Login to your account as above.
- Click the My VDL Membership link in the left side menu.
Member Profile
- How do I update my member profile?
- First, login to your account. After logging in, you’ll be on the My Profile page.
- Choose the My Account Details link in the left side menu.
- Edit your details as required.
- Click the Save Changes button.
- How do I opt in to / opt out of the Member Directory? If you have a current VDL membership, you can choose to be included in the Member Directory.
- Login and go to My Account Details as above.
- If opting in, make sure your Display Name is accurate: You will be listed under this name in the directory.
- Scroll down to the “Member Directory opt in” section.
- Choose your preferred setting: You can opt out completely, or opt in to display limited details (a good choice for individual members), or opt in to display all contact details (a good choice for group members).
- At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
- If you have opted in, you will now be listed in the Member Directory.
- Which of my details are displayed in the Member Directory? This depend on your opt in setting (see above). All details that are displayed can be edited from Member Portal > My Profile > My Account Details and My Profile > My Addresses.
- If you have opted out, you will not be listed in the Member Directory.
- If you have chosen the minimal details setting, the following will be included: Display name, logo/headshot, bio, email, website and Facebook page.
- If you have chosen the all contact details setting, the following will be included: Display name, logo/headshot, bio, email, website and Facebook page, address, phone number, and mobile number.
Plays (What’s Ons), Auditions, and One Act Play Festivals
- How to submit a play for What’s On: If you have a Group membership type, you can view, edit, and add your own plays from Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My VDL Plays. For detailed instructions, see How to Submit Your Play For What’s On.
- How to submit an Audition: If you have a Group membership type, you can view, edit, and add your own auditions from Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My VDL Plays. An audition belongs to a play, and is edited from within the relevant play record. For detailed instructions, see How to Submit an Audition.
- How to edit an existing play or audition:
- Find your play in the list under Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My VDL Plays. (If editing an audition, the audition is available within the relevant play record.)
- Click the Edit button.
- Make the required changes.
- Click the Save Changes button.
- How to submit a One Act Play Festival: If you have a Group membership type, you can view, edit, and add your own OAP Festivals from Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My OAP Festivals. For detailed instructions, see How to Submit a One Act Play Festival Notice.
- How to edit an existing One Act Play Festival:
- Find your festival in the list under Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My OAP Festivals.
- Click the Edit button.
- Make the required changes.
- Click the Save Changes button.
VDL Awards Entries
- How to enter the VDL Awards: If you have a Victorian Group membership type, you can view and submit awards entries from Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content. An awards entry belongs to a play, and is submitted from within the relevant play record (My Plays). Entries that have been submitted can be viewed either from My VDL Content > My VDL Awards, or from the relevant play record. For detailed instructions, see How to Enter the VDL Awards.
Play Reviews
- How to request a play review: If you have a Victorian Group membership type, you can request a review for an upcoming production. The deadline for making the request is one month before the start date of the production. The request can be made from the relevant play record, in Member Portal > My Profile > My VDL Content > My Plays. For detailed instructions, see How to Request a Review.
