Synopsis
“Anna By Lamplight”
Berlin, November 1938,two days after Kristallnacht. A dangerous time to be a Jew. But who presents the greater danger to Anna:the Nazis or her abusive husband Max? And who is the stranger lurking under the Lamplight.
“Cycle”
The laundromat is a sanctuary, an escape from the outside world, a welcomed mundane. A place to disconnect from your daily life as you focus in on the hum of the wash and the tumble of the dry. Until a stranger enters that safe haven ¦and begins to ask questions and takes it upon themselves to break the cycle.
“Catfish Jumping”
A whodunnit with a twist! Our two detectives have their work cut out in this murder mystery. Is it the fact they missed a clue? Is it a fact they don’t have a clue? Everyone is a suspect including the catfish!

Characters Description:
"Anna By Lamplight"
This one act play is a conversation between a husband and his wife. It has a strong underlying feeling of menace. Actors will be required to build and hold the tension within this scene through highly developed expressive and performance skills. This tension will not be created through loud volume or overt aggression but instead through stillness, sustained focus and internalised energy and presence. Ability to do a slight German accent would be beneficial.One male character will only appear briefly at the end of the play.
"Cycle"
Anna is incredibly over confident and loves to pry. She is quite antagonistic and her behaviour is irritating. She is alone in this life and living with a great deal of regret; regret she can't ever fix. While disappointed with the direction of her own life, you would never know this from the way she acts around and towards others. She knows she's annoying but refuses to care. Life is too short to care - especially when you have an agenda. She sees a "closed book" as a challenge and is not afraid to bully to draw out information.
Belle is on her own for the first time. Having recently moved out of home she is attempting to find her way in the real world and that involves doing chores like laundry for the first time. It is clear she is quite "fresh" and very innocent in the way she approaches life. Belle is slow to trust having been burned in the past.The direction of her life has suddenly shifted and she is trying to cope with what it all means. She is reluctant to share her story, however, as the play progresses finds herself drawn into conversation
"Catfish Jumping"
Inspector Brett Stevens - (Lead: Police Inspector / 40+) Forthright, proud, big-picture man, not too bright, easily confused by the antics of the suspects as he muddles through the clues.
Cynthia Forsyth - (Widow / 40+) Wealthy, manipulative and self-obsessed.
Assistant Inspector John Matthews - (Police Officer / 25+) Bright without being conceited, details-man, a bit nerdy, Inspector Stevens' right-hand man, the long-suffering brains behind the operation.
Roger Quincy - (Gardener/50+) Ex-Army, a bit odd, easily distracted, animal lover, may have accent, possibly Irish.
Florence Flockhart - (Maid/25+) Quirky, airy-fairy, Astro space traveller
