Synopsis
On a dark and stormy night, six mysterious guests show up at a stereotypically creepy mansion having
each received a cryptic invitation from an unknown host. However, as their host’s true intentions are
revealed and the night takes a deadly turn, everyone must scramble to catch the killer and try to leave
the mansion alive.
This raucous comedy requires a dynamic ensemble of actors to bring it to life with chutzpah and gusto,
and will no doubt be a show to remember! (for those who make it out alive)…
Characters
Characters Summary:
Auditions will be conducted as a group. You will be asked to read of one or two scenes featuring
your chosen character/s with other auditionees. These scenes have been provided so you can
practice ahead of time, however you are not required to be off book. You do not need to prepare
anything for the audition (unless you are auditioning for WADSWORTH, see below).
For Wadsworth only
Anyone interested in auditioning for Wadsworth is asked to choose part of Scene 3 to present at the
audition. It is up to you how much/which part of the scene you choose to perform; however, it must
be under one minute. For this scene alone, you will be asked to be off book. In this scene,
Wadsworth imitates the other characters in quick succession, creating a challenging yet hilarious
vignette. Pay attention to the stage directions (e.g., he mimes opening the briefcase at the desk). The
purpose of this exercise is to understand how you envision the character – there is no right or
wrong.
Accents:
Most characters require a standard American accent, however, if possible, Transatlantic/Mid-
Atlantic accents are encouraged. There are a few exceptions, please see below.
Wadsworth: American OR Posh British accent (actor’s choice)
Yvette: French accent
Characters Description:
Wadsworth (Main) A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and "by the book." He
is the driving force in the play. American OR Posh British accent (actor’s choice)
Mrs Peacock (Main) The Church-going wife of a Senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.
Mrs White (Main) A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer
of her five ex-husbands.
Miss Scarlet (Main) A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam who is more interested in secrets than sex.
Mr Green (Main) A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He's a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious.
Colonel Mustard (Main) A puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.
Professor Plum (Main) An academic Casanova who woos women with his big... brain.
Yvette (Supporting) A sexy, French Maid, with her own secret aspirations. French accent.
Mr Boddy (Supporting) A mobster type fella. A dark cloud follows this guy wherever he goes.
Cook (Supporting) A threatening, yet quiet, presence.
Cop (Supporting) A "Regular Joe."
Chief (Ensemble) A police chief who comes to arrest the culprit (several times over).
Agent (Ensemble) An FBI agent who helps to save the day.
Motorist (Ensemble) A benign gentleman who rings the wrong doorbell.
