Synopsis

Confusions is a set of five interlinked one act plays: Mother Figure, Drinking Companion, Between Mouthfuls, Gosforth’s Fete and A Talk in the Park.
Each play deals riotously, but with sharply pointed undertones, with human eccentricities and the human dilemma of loneliness; a mother unable to escape from baby talk, a disastrous fete, an unsuccessful seduction attempt, a fate fraught dinner encounter and the final play sums up with five self immolated characters on park benches.

Other Information:

Synopsis: “Confusions” is a play comprising five small plays: ‘Mother Figure’, “Drinking Companion’, ‘Between Mouthfuls’, ‘Gosforth’s Fete’ and ‘A Talk in the Park’. Each of these has a link one to another but it is tenuous and certainly play separately. The five plays are:
*Mother Figure: Lucy invites her neighbours Rosemary and Terry in for a drink but forgets that they are adults and not children!
*Drinking Companions: Sleazy Harry tries to get Paula to come to his room for a “nightcap” and she is saved by the arrival of her friend Bernice.
*Between Mouthfuls: Two couples arrive at a restaurant for a dinner. Unfortunately Polly of one of the couples realises too late in the other couple is the Mr Pearces, the man she has had an affair with. We only hear what the waiter hears as he moves from one table to the other.
*Gosforth’s Fete: Milly, Emma Pearce, Gosforth, the Vicar and Stewart are in a tea tent where a somewhat farcical disorganised fete is being managed.
A Talk in the Park: Arthur, Beryl, Doreen ,Ernest and Charles tell each other about themselves but no-one is interested.
