Synopsis
Happy Coupling is a comedy based on the eternal themes of love, sex, and mistaken identity. Digby is getting married in the morning, but if this stag party is anything to go by then it doesn’t bode well. Can his luck really be this bad, or does his brother Eddie have a secret agenda?
And what about the hen’s night on the floor below? For bride-to-be Mandy, getting to the altar is a game of Truth & Dare with a lot at stake. And is there something her mother Sylvia isn’t telling her?

Each actor plays two roles - a character from the stag do in Act 1 and a character from the hens night in Act 2, through an effective, fun, and respectful portrayal of drag.
The actor that plays Mandy also plays Aaron.
The actor that plays Digby also plays Naomi.
The actor that plays Eddie also pays Lizzie.
The actor that plays Gary also plays Rose. (friend / mother of the bride)
The actor that plays Ralph also plays Sylvia. (father of the bride, mother of the groom)
Characters Description:
Mandy / Aaron (F, 20s-30s)
Mandy is the bride-to-be. She’s marrying Digby, but also happens to be Eddie’s ex-girlfriend. Aaron is more of an acquaintance of Digby than a friend, so he’s chuffed to have been invited to the party.
Digby / Naomi (M, 30s-40s)
Digby is the groom-to-be, and Eddie’s older brother. Naomi is one of Mandy’s close friends and bridesmaid.
Eddie / Lizzie (M, 20s-30s)
Eddie is Digby’s younger brother and his best man. He also happens to be Mandy’s ex-boyfriend. Lizzie is one of Mandy’s close friends and bridesmaid.
Gary / Rose (M, 30s-40s)
Gary is an old friend of Digby’s and gratefully received guest at his stag do. Rose is Mandy’s mother and thus soon-to-be Digby’s (disapproving) mother-in-law.
Ralph / Sylvia (M, 50s-60s)
Ralph is Mandy’s father and thus soon-to-be Digby’s (disapproving) father-in-law. Sylvia is Digby’s and Eddie’s mother.

Auditions will be held individually and by appointment only. Each audition slot will be approximately 20 minutes. During the audition, you will be asked to perform one or two provided scenes (potentially others as requested). Some familiarity with the audition scenes is encouraged, but memorisation is not required. The natural accent of each actor in their respective roles will suffice.
It is necessary that you are familiar with the play when you come to the auditions. Copies of the script can be obtained by emailing the director. Please advise if you will be attending and on what day you would like to make a booking.
