Synopsis
John Misto’s play, Harp on the Willow, is the incredible true story of Mary O’Hara, the internationally famous Irish singer and harpist who entered an enclosed order of nuns after the death of her husband. When a destitute alcoholic, Kane, descends on the convent, he turns Mary’s calm life into chaos.
Harp on the Willow is the story of their feisty relationship. It is filled with songs, drama and humour as these two unusual people transform each other’s lives.

1. Sister Miriam Perpetua Selig: 30s, Irish,. Previously the famous singer, Mary O’Hara who enters the convent when her husband dies.
2. Mary O’Hara: 19, Irish, famous folk singer and harpist
3. Mother Raphael Walker: 50s, English, Mother Superior of Stanbrook Convent, some singing required
4. Richard Selig: 25-30, American, a poet, handsome (could also be off stage voice of Angry Neighbour and Sound Engineer)
5. Sister Walburga: 30-50, a nun, small role requires some singing (can also be off stage English voice)
Off Stage Voices - one female (English), 4 male (English, may be played by one person)
Precast Characters:
Tyrone Kane 38: American. Derelict drunk who visits the convent asking for his donation back as prayer weren't answered.
