Synopsis
For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs…who justbhappened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.
Puffs is not authorised, sanctioned, licenced or endorsed by J.K Rowling, Warner Brothers or any person or company associated with the Harry Potter books, films or play.

Characters Summary:
CHARACTERS
The Creative Team encourage performers of all nationalities, gender identities and body types to audition. We welcome different interpretations of the character descriptions.
Most actors will play several roles so we are looking for actors with great comic timing and the ability to switch quickly from one character to the other. This show has adult themes and therefore we are looking for adult actors who can embody the spirit of high school students.
WAYNE HOPKINS
A boy wizard (but not that boy wizard), ready to take on whatever challenges face him, even if he fails again and again. Wayne has read the Silmarillion, twice.
OLIVER RIVERS
A math savant who would rather study algebra than magic.
MEGAN JONES
A “goth/punk” Puff who wants nothing to do with being a Puff but is sorted into their house anyway. Her mother is a notorious Death Buddy.
NARRATOR
A real professional Puff when it comes to storytelling.
ERNIE MAC and A VERY TALL MAN, SEAMUS, A CERTAIN POTIONS TEACHER, PROF. TURBAN, GHOST HISTORY TEACH, PROF. LOCKY, MR. NICK, SAL, SECOND HEADMASTER, REAL MR. MOODY
Ernie is basically the best. Or so he thinks.

Hannah is very shy and often misses social cues.

J.Finch Fletchley is very fun and good friends with Ernie. The ability to improvise will be useful for this role.
LEANNE and GINNY, HELGA, FRENCHY
Leanne was raised in a cabin by her grandparents and the Puffs are the first other children she has ever seen.
SALLY PERKS and HERMEOONE, BLONDO MALFOY, ROWENA, RITA SCOOTER, BIPPY
Sally goes to school here. She is very kind.
SUSIE BONES and HARRY, COLIN, , HERMEOONE #2, RIC GRYFF, MYRTLE
Let’s just say there is no coincidence that Susie and Myrtle are played by the same actor. Susie fears death and those around her dying because her whole family were murdered.
CEDRIC and MR. VOLDY
Cedric is basically a rockstar who inspires the Puffs. Mr Voldy instils fear in all the Puffs, he is seriously evil.

AUDITION DETAILS
Each audition slot will be approximately 10 minutes long. Please prepare two short monologues, one from Selection A and one from Selection B (see audition scenes below).
We would love to hear what UK accents are in your repertoire - don’t stress if they are not perfect, just have a play!
Callbacks, if needed, will be held on 19th November, in the morning.
REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. We will break for the festive season from 19 December - 8 January.
Performance dates are Fri 10, Sat 11, Sun 12, Fri 17, Sat 18, Sun 19, Thurs 23, Fri 24, Sat 25 March 2023. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances at 8pm, Sunday performances at 5pm.
