Synopsis
A beautiful, bittersweet human comedy set in America’s deep-south, it’s the story of six very special friends bonded together by their mutual triumphs and tragedies.
Despite their differences, beautiful and impulsive Shelby, her strong-willed mother, M’Lynn, beauty parlour owner Truvy, elegant widow Clairee, sharp-tongued Ouiser and mousy newcomer Annelle enjoy a friendship that spans the boundaries of age and status. Sharing each other’s strength and loyalty, these six remarkable women survive the cycles of life, birth, death and marriage to emerge stronger, closer and still laughing.

Characters Description:
Truvy Jones- Truvy is the owner ofvtbe local beauty salon. She is attractive, fun-loving, compassionate and loves gossip. Character age 40ish
Annelle Dupuy-Desoto- Annelle is the new beauty salon assistant who is originally shy and softly spoken before she blossoms and becomes a born-again Christian. Character age 20ish.
Clairee Belcher- Clairee is the wealthy widow of the former mayor and grande dame. Character age 60ish
Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie- Shelby is the prettiest girl in town with a vivacious personality. She loves life and lives it to the fullest, despite her health struggles with diabetes. Shelby has a smile that lights up the room. Character age mid-20ish
M’Lynn Eatenton- M’Lynn is a socially prominent career woman who works as a counsellor. She is devoted to and adores her daughter Shelby and has always looked after her and likes to be in control. Character age 50ish
Ouiser (pronounced ‘Weezer’) Boudreaux- Ouiser is a wealthy curmudgeon who despite being acerbic is lovable. Character age 60ish
The women in this play are witty, intelligent and above all, real characters.
