Synopsis
In the classic comedic play Tartuffe, the title character fakes extreme piety to gain the affection of Orgon, the patriarch of the family with whom Tartuffe stays with as a houseguest. Orgon’s adulation of Tartuffe tears the family apart. To save Orgon from his own folly and themselves from its consequences, Orgon’s family launches a campaign to expose and punish Tartuffe, rescue their own futures, and restore harmony to their lives.
In this rendition Orgon is the owner & ringmaster of the Royal Circus and Tartuffe the fraudulent Shaman who comes among them and creates discord.

Characters Description:
Orgon, Father and a favourite of the Court who has fallen under the influence of Tartuffe and will not hear a word against him
Tartuffe, a religious hypocrite and con-man. He weasels his way into Orgon's household and almost walks away with the house.
Dorine, the maid, is sassy and streetwise, comes from a poor background so lives by her wits
Cleante, Orgon's brother/sister believes in speaking truths but has a knack for presenting them in an annoying, rather pretentious way.
Elmire - A strong woman who takes it upon herself to out Tartuffe
Mariane - Daddy's little girl, used to saying yes to her father always
Damis - Orgon's brother, a hothead who would enjoy cutting Tartuffe to ribbons
Madame Pernelle - Orgon's mother, eats up every word Tartuffe utters and spits it back out to the family
Valere - a nice guy, madly in love with Mariane, who almost finishes last
Flipote - Madame Pernell's mistreated maid
Monsieur Loyal - bearer of bad news, lackey for Tartuffe, devious
Officer - official officer of the court

Other Information:
This show will be presented as a circus family. The related characters will definitely be Orgon, his mother, daughter and son.
The other characters will be part of the circus 'family' and therefore have positions of authority to speak their minds.
Having circus abilities is not a requirement - if there is something you can do, hula hoops, cart wheels etc.. we can play around with those!
An information pack will give more in depth descriptions of the characters and their motivation.
