Synopsis
The Peppercorn Tree is a moving Australian drama, set in Melbourne in 1993 and first staged in 2010
Jonah, an Australian ex-serviceman, is nearing the end of his life. He has always been secretive about his wartime experiences, but he has reluctantly agreed to his wife’s suggestion that he recount these experiences to Zoe, a professional biographer. As his story unfolds, he reveals a secret that has an unexpected and powerful impact on his family.

Jonah Cloake
An ex-serviceman, age about 75.
Grace Cloake
Jonah’s current and second wife, aged about 65.
Michael Cloake
Jonah’s son, aged abut 50.
Zoe Pilgrim
A professional biographer, aged 35 to 50.
Evie Walker Cloake
Jonah’s late first wife, aged in her 20s, with an English accent, heard from off-stage. This could be pre-recorded, but will probably be given live by an actress.
An actor’s true age may be different from their character’s age, if they look and sound right for the part. Please do not hesitate to audition just because you are uncertain whether your age is suitable.

Synopsis:

Auditions:
Auditions will by individual appointment, at 25 minute intervals. Auditions candidates will be asked to read specific sections of the script, against other actors. There is no need to memorise these for the audition. Please arrive 10 minutes early so that you can fill out an audition form.
Rehearsals will be held Monday and Wednesday 7:30pm to 9:30pm and Sunday 2:30pm to 5:00pm
Successful candidates will be required to become members of Eltham Little Theatre.
