Synopsis
The show will be comprised of a variety of monologues of successful auditionees.
Auditionees should find and LEARN one monologue of their own choosing – but nothing from The Merchant of Venice. The monologue can be dramatic, comedic, contemporary or classical. However, the monologue must be only a small proportion of a larger piece of writing to meet copyright requirements. Self-written monologues will also be considered.
The monologues should be at least 2 minutes long and no more than 5 minutes long. auditionees will be part of an ensemble with each actor performing a monologue, in character, and in costume.
In addition to seeking excellent actors, another critical factor will be how the successful auditionees’ monologues fit together to comprise an engaging and entertaining whole.
Rehearsals will initially be via Zoom, one-on-one, at a mutually arranged time (as arranged with the director) as soon as casting is finalised. Due to the nature of the show it is expected the number of rehearsals may vary between different actors but will not be as demanding as a full-length play.
