Synopsis
Moira Buffini’s hilarious play reimagines the private conversations that took place between Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher during their tenure as the UK’s monarch and Prime Minister, respectively. Set against the backdrop of the 1980s, the play cleverly explores their complex and contrasting personalities, political ideologies, and the collision of monarchy and government. With a touch of satire and sharp dialogue, “Handbagged” presents a delightful, quirky look at the intersection of power and gender, as well as the historic events that shaped the era and the United Kingdom’s destiny.
