Synopsis
After being betrayed by women, Lélio and his valet Harlequin retire to the countryside, cutting themselves off from the opposite sex. Though full of longing and desire, they refrain from succumbing to the charms of women again. Their new neighbours, the Countess and her maid Colombine, fresh from Paris, are more or less the same way about men.
But the two men soon meet and use their imagination to convince each other that they don’t love each other. Thus begins a ballet of pretence and scheming, orchestrated by Columbine and the mysterious Baron.
Who will enter the dance? Who will emerge? Can anyone remain unscathed in a game of love?
