Synopsis

Suppose’ is an original one-act play that will be making its stage debut in 2022, directed by Lisa Johnson and performing at three one-act play festivals in August and September. It is a drama told in monologues and flashbacks, with strong mental health themes, including depression, eating disorders and suicide.

Anglesea one act play festival 13th-14th August.
South Gippsland one act play festival 27th-28th August.
Seymour one act play festival 10th September.

It is a drama told in monologues and flashbacks, with strong mental health themes, including depression, eating disorders and suicide. Because of the strong themes in the play, auditionees are encouraged to contact the director to read the script prior to requesting an audition. Characters are:

Caitlin (stage age – 23): The play takes place at Caitlin’s funeral, and the audience learns her story through a serious of flashbacks. Outwardly very confident and outgoing but struggles with a secret eating disorder.

Emily (stage age – early 20s): Caitlin’s best friend. Outgoing and sassy.

Michael (stage age – early to late 20s): Caitlin’s boyfriend. Attentive and loving, but doesn’t know how to talk to Caitlin about her mental health.

Mrs. Morrison (stage age – 50s): Caitlin’s mum. This role has been precast.

Priest (stage age – 40s to 50s): Presides over Caitlin’s funeral.
